About the artist

(b. Monrovia, Liberia) lives in New York. Her work centers the female body as a site of origin and authority. Drawing from lived experience, she considers how history lives in the body and how identity is shaped by inheritance, migration, and belief. Her paintings move between the material and the unseen, with figures and symbols drawn from ritual, faith, and ancestral memory. Havette works in oil paint alongside wood, iron, and stone, building layered surfaces that hold physical weight and spiritual presence. Her recent sculptures pair West African ritual wood with European stone, extending the concerns of her painting into three dimensions. Through restraint and accumulation, she returns to cycles of life and death, love and war, creation and ruin. Her work has been exhibited at leading museums and international art fairs, including the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Houston Museum of African American Culture, Wehrmühle Museum, the Masur Museum of Art, Christie's London, Art Cologne, Zona Maco, Untitled Art, and the Aspen Art Fair. Her solo exhibitions include I Love It When You Beg (Palo Gallery, New York, 2026), Playing with Fire (Von Racknitz + Baer, Berlin, 2025), and a solo booth at Zona Maco (2025). She is represented by Palo Gallery, New York.
