Michael Gregory

Michael Gregory (b. 1955) was born in Los Angeles, CA and received his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1980. Previously living and working in Bolinas, California, Gregory has been fascinated with the study of old barns and silos. While he paints them from his imagination, the barns often appear so true to life and so rich in detail that they can almost be construed as photographic in nature. As Gregory explains, “My paintings are collages made up of personal observation and experience, art history and interests that extend beyond the formal language of painting. While I love paint, the act of painting is subservient to the picture which stands for the idea.” The artist currently lives and works in Rhinebeck, NY.
