Marcus Manganni is a New York-based sculptor and installation artist whose practice asks under what conditions we are allowed to see. Working with light, reflection, refraction, architecture, and abstraction, Manganni extends the historical concerns of Light and Space into a distinctly contemporary investigation of visibility, access, and power. Rather than treating perception as neutral, he considers light as an active material and social force, capable of revealing, concealing, directing, restricting, and reshaping our experience of space. His work brings the perceptual rigor of Light and Space into dialogue with architecture, surveillance, institutional structures, and the politics of visibility, positioning sculpture as a way to examine not only how we see, but who or what determines the conditions of seeing. Manganni’s work is held in the Ford Foundation, Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection, Godwin-Ternbach Museum, The Foundry, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Nashville, and has been presented by institutions including the Cleveland Museum of Art and Gund. He is a recipient of the Art for Justice Art and Advocacy Grant, Art for Justice Individual Artist Grant and Fellowship, Right of Return Fellowship, and Creatives Rebuild New York Artist Grant, and is the 2026 recipient of the Cleveland Public Library Public Art Initiative. His One Glass Brick is the inaugural sculpture of RESET Sculpture Garden in Joshua Tree, California, and has been presented at the High Desert Art Fair hosted by Desert X. He is currently an artist in residence at Silver Art Projects and has received a Senior Fellow in residence for 2026–2027. His recent presentations include a solo presentation with Trotter&Sholer at NADA New York. He is represented internationally by Surgery Gallery in Seoul, South Korea.
